In a matter of hours, Nikki Bella will become the longest-reigning Divas Champion in history – but she might not hold the title for much longer than that.
Nikki managed to escape from Raw with the belt, her Divas Title match with Charlotte ending in a DQ decision. An unsuccessful attempt at “twin magic” saw Charlotte pin Brie Bella and be crowned the new Divas Champion, but the decision was promptly reversed by Stephanie McMahon, who ruled that Nikki was still champion by virtue of DQ rules.

Stephanie wasn’t done there, though: she immediately booked Charlotte’s rematch for this Sunday’s Night of Champions Pay-Per-View. She then ensured that no Team Bella trickery would result in a similar non-finish, dictating that if Nikki lost the match by pinfall, submission, count out or DQ, she would lose the title.
Win or lose on Sunday, Nikki will still have her place in the history books. As of midnight ET tonight, she will officially become the longest-reigning Divas Champion in WWE history, surpassing AJ Lee‘s 295 day reign.
Night of Champions takes place this Sunday, live at 8pm ET on the WWE Network.
