Dakota Kai teases in-ring return

Dakota Kai announced on Twitter today that she has received an approximate date for her return to in-ring competition. Kai has been sidelined since December, as a result of an injury sustained at an NXT house show in Green Bay.

As reported by Diva Dirt sources, Kai went down during a three-on-three tag match where she teamed with Kairi Sane and Candice LeRae against NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler and her fellow Four Horsewomen of MMA, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. The referee on duty threw up the “X” and Kai was removed from the ring by staff. Following weeks of silence and much speculation, Kai confirmed in January that she had torn her ACL during the match, right before she underwent surgery to repair it.

Dakota Kai has spent much of her recovery with friend and tag team partner Tegan Nox, also recovering from a serious knee injury incurred during last year’s Mae Young Classic. She and Nox have been tipped as future challengers to the Women’s Tag Team Championship, assuming both recover well enough to return to the ring.

Check back in with Diva Dirt for further updates on Kai’s recovery.
