Paige vs. Raquel Diaz – FCW (May 27, 2012)
Before WWE rebranded NXT, and it became the popular developmental brand we know today, there was Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In its early days, daughter of the late Eddie Guerrero, Raquel Diaz was one of the developmental territory’s breakout stars. What she lacked in in-ring expertise she made up for in character work.
That’s where Paige comes in. Besides her technical ability, what really made her stand out was her understanding of wrestling for her age. She was giving and she understood how to put her opponents over. It was one of her greatest strengths, so it will come up in other matches on this list.
This match isn’t a five-star classic by any means, but it’s a good example of how she made some of the inexperienced women in this era look better than they were. She used her technical prowess to carry the match while getting the crowd behind Diaz. So, when Raquel pulls off a crafty trademark Guerrero win it feels earned.
