Paige vs. AJ Lee – SummerSlam 2014
Paige’s main roster debut, on the Raw after WrestleMania 30, is the centerpiece of “Fighting With My Family”. The subsequent win ended AJ’s 295-day reign, making Paige the youngest Divas Champion and only woman to hold the title and NXT Women’s Championship concurrently.
It is undoubtedly one of, if not the biggest, moments of her career but it’s not much of a match. Because it was under two minutes it would be hard to justify adding it to this list. In contrast, her second title win against Lee at SummerSlam was a much more satisfying match.
One of the criticisms of her first few months on the main roster was that she didn’t show much character progression. In this match and the build that proceeded it, Paige got to play up her new heel persona. It wasn’t as shocking as her first Divas Championship win, but her character work showed a dramatic improvement.
Up until this point she was portrayed as an underdog. In this match, she didn’t look as vulnerable, and she got to showcase the same intensity she displayed in her NXT matches.
