AAA concluded their Lucha Libre World Cup 2016 this past weekend.

During the women’s elimination rounds, Team Mexico (Mary Apache, Faby Apache and Lady Apache) qualified for a spot in the final round after defeating Team USA (Cheerleader Melissa, Santana Garrett and Sienna) while Team Japan (Aja Kong, Sumire Natsu and Yuki Miyakazi) earned their spot with a win over Team Canada (TayaAllie and KC Spinelli).
Though eliminated from the final rounds, Team USA and Team Canada squared off against each other for the third place medal. An all brawl between both teams would break out, with every women hitting a signature maneuver. However, it was AAA’s Reina de Reinas Champion Taya that would secure the win for her team after avoiding a Shooting Star Press from Santana and hitting her with a suplex and double knee shot combination.

In the final round, Team Mexico and Team Japan’s initial tag match went to sudden death after the ten minute time limit was reached- this even after Aja Kong went on a rampage against the Apache family with a weapon choice of a metal box. During a sudden death one-on-one match, Faby took on Aja Kong, managing to survive Aja’s dominance long enough for the five minute time limit mark to be reached. In the second sudden death one-on-one match, Mary took on Yuki, managing to get a quick win after dodging a moonsault and hitting Yuki with a powerbomb.

Post match, Mary was also given the complimentary title of being crowned the best luchadora of the event.
