AEW announced yet another impressive and loaded card for this week’s AEW Dark, which will feature three women’s matches. The matches are Big Swole taking on Dani Jordyn, Skyler Moore facing Penelope Ford and Red Velvet and Kenzie Page take on Allie and Brandi Rhodes in tag team action.
In the past few weeks, AEW Dark has been offering up some stacked cards. But as full of talent the shows have been, they haven’t always featured the women as much as the men. Usually AEW Dark features at least one women’s match but last week, out of eight matches on the card, there wasn’t one at all.
But this week’s show seems to have turned things around and will host not one but three women’s matches on the card.
Red Velvet is the newest addition to AEW Dark but three out of the four talents have been seen on previous episodes of Dynamite and Dark both in the crowd and in the ring. Collectively the trio of Dani Jordyn, Skyler Moore and Kenzie Page has faced against the likes of Britt Baker, Nyla Rose, Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida.
The use of these upcoming talents has never been more important as AEW are in a tough spot as two of the top talents, Britt Baker and Kris Statlander in the women’s division are out for a good while due to knee injuries.
This is a huge opportunity for the talents to stand out and possibly become permanent members of a division that is in need for some new and exciting performers.
This is also the first time we have seen Allie and Brandi Rhodes in the ring for months so it will be interesting to see how they fair against two young and hungry up and comers.
It is great to see the AEW’s women’s division be given the time and chance to grow and evolve. Hopefully, we can begin to see more and more women’s matches on Dynamite too.
