The ratings for Total Divas‘s season two premiere are in, and despite heavy competition and a time slot change, the show performed decently, averaging 1.072 million viewers and a 0.6 18-49 demo rating according to The Futon Critic.
The not so great news is that viewer count is clearly on the lower end of its run, which can likely be attributed to the show moving from 10pm to 9pm and having to face off against stiff competition. Hit shows such as AMC’s The Walking Dead and ABC’s Resurrection, as well as critical favorites like CBS’s The Good Wife and Showtime’s Shameless are not the ideal programs one would want to compete with. Therefore the viewer drop was obviously to be expected.
The better news, though, is that their 18-49 rating didn’t fall too much from what it was doing at 10pm last season. Merely dipping from the usual 0.7 to a 0.6 puts the show in hardly any danger, if any at all, especially when the network’s average for the night is a 0.3.
The performance of the show’s season two premiere is nothing to brag about compared to some of its season one performances. However, given that the 10pm slot is a lot easier to succeed in, garnering double the network’s average while facing so many other well publicized programs is likely going to keep a smile on the faces of those at E!.
