Going Halloween Costume Shopping: TNA Knockouts

Happy Halloween! We’re celebrating our seventh anniversary of dreaming up Halloween costumes for the Divas and Knockouts. This year we’ll be splitting up the women into three categories: NXT, TNA and WWE.

But before you see this year’s picks, be sure to catch up on the past six years of this feature:

For part two, we’re featuring the TNA Knockouts:

Angelina Love & Velvet Sky as Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie

This year saw the triumphant reunion of the Beautiful People, leading us to reminisce about another iconic mean girl duo: Paris and Nicole. Unlike the stars of The Simple Life, Angelina and Velvet were able to overcome their numerous splits and relive their glory days. Paris and Nicole are slowly regaining relevancy in 2014, though: Paris DJs around the world and Nicole has a new reality show. Angelina and Velvet could pay tribute to these long lost besties by dressing as them in all their 2003 glory: Queen bee Angelina as Paris and Velvet as Nicole.

Brittany as Helena from Orphan Black

The Ukrainian clone is easily the biggest wild card in the “clone club” on Orphan Black. She’s intensely loyal, but you’re not quite sure what she’ll do next. Brittany seems to be heading down a similar path: after Madison Rayne declined to return her affections, she set her sights on Samuel Shaw, managing to make the former stalker of Christy Hemme look less creepy by comparison. If she continues her mental downward spiral, it won’t be long before she’s as unhinged – and entertaining – as Helena.

Brooke & Robbie as the Dentists on The Amazing Race

So far, so good for Brooke and Robbie on The Amazing Race. They’re still alive in the contest, but there are plenty of teams standing between them and victory. One of those teams are Misty and Jim, husband and wife dentists from South Carolina. Brooke and Robbie would do well to steal some of their mojo, as the dentists are consistently at the front of the pack. Wigs, blindingly bright teeth, southern accents and head-to-toe blue clothing would be all they need to emulate the duo.

Christy Hemme as Jem from Jem

As a ring announcer and the frontwoman of a rock band, Christy definitely knows her way around a microphone. So, why not draw inspiration for her costume from a glam rock star? Christy’s got more of an edge to her than Jem does (insert your “BRRRRRRITTTANNNY” imitation here), but this would be a fitting throwback costume for her. An official cover of the Jem theme song would be required, of course.

Dixie Carter as Az4angela from the Bath & Body Works candle meme

Earlier this month, a two year old YouTube rant from a woman in Wisconsin about Bath & Body Works candles went viral, turning its star into a meme overnight. She personified how ridiculous American entitlement can get, threatening to boycott a retail chain over missing candles. After the year Dixie’s had – being driven through a table, losing her TV deal – we’re thinking she’s got one hell of a webcam rant ready to go. Dixie could let out her frustrations by yelling about Winter Candy Apple candles, allowing her to negotiate a new TV deal for TNA with a level head.

Gail Kim as Kalinda Sharma from The Good Wife

Big things come in small packages, as proven time and time again by both Gail and the gun-toting, gutsy investigator on The Good Wife. Nothing can keep Gail down, and the same goes for Kalinda, who finds herself dealing with drug kingpins and murders on a daily basis. If Gail adopted Kalinda’s skills and signature look – leather jacket, mini skirt and high-heeled boots – she’d soon find herself equipped to take on anything. Except, perhaps, for an ambush from Havok.

Havok as the Winter Soldier from Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Since her TNA debut, Havok has torn through the competition with a single-mindedness that is reminiscent of the Winter Solider from this year’s Captain America sequel. She’s not brainwashed, but she’d definitely make a certain high-level evil organization very happy. Keep her signature gas mask, give her a mechanical arm and you’ve got your very own version of the HYDRA mercenary. Though, this begs the question: which Knockout gets to play Captain America?

Madison Rayne as Rosemary Woodhouse from Rosemary’s Baby

Late last year, Madison made her return to TNA less than four months after giving birth to her first child. That impressive feat was not lost on us, so it was inevitable that we’d connect her to perhaps the most famous horror movie mother: Rosemary of Rosemary’s Baby. Rosemary’s pregnancy didn’t go so well – no quick turnaround for her – so Madison will need to fake pregnancy woes with makeup. The demon baby is optional, of course.

Rebel as Elsa Mars from American Horror Story: Freak Show

Rebel isn’t exactly the ringleader of the Menagerie, but she is the most normal of the bunch. For Halloween, she could draw inspiration from a woman in a position akin to her own: Elsa Mars from American Horror Story: Freak Show. Elsa is a collector and caregiver of “freaks” with a mysterious past and a style that reflects 1950s glamour. After giving herself a taste of Elsa’s confidence, Rebel could be picking up wins in the ring in no time.

Taryn Terrell as Amy Dunne from Gone Girl

There’s more to Gone Girl‘s Amy Dunne than meets the eye, but if you haven’t read the book or seen the movie, explaining why would be spoiling the story. The missing wife bears a resemblance to Taryn, with her blonde hair and disarming beauty, so Taryn could play Amy as-is, putting on the demeanor of a cold, closed-off woman. If she wants to go whole hog, though, she could dress as Amy’s missing poster, prop poster board and all.

Which of these costumes is your favorite? What are your ideas?
