The WWE has finally confirmed that SmackDown is leaving Friday nights.
The show, which has aired on Fridays since 2005, will make the jump starting January 15th according to an official WWE press release. It will stay at the 8pm ET time slot and continue airing on Syfy.
Rumors of the move starting popping up over the summer, with Syfy’s schedule indicating that the change would be made in October. The change was later postponed, possibly to avoid competition from this season’s Thursday night NFL games.

UPDATE: F4WOnline.com is reporting that NXT will be moving to Wednesdays at 8pm ET, presumably the same week that SmackDown moves to Thursdays. This would have it going head-to-head with Lucha Underground.
