Tonight at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, Asuka defends her NXT Women’s title against Mickie James. Can the return of Mickie James be enough to end Asuka’s undefeated streak in NXT? The Diva Dirt team weighs in:

Abir: This is probably going to be MOTN – and probably of the weekend! Mickie and Asuka are gonna have a very equal fight and it’ll seem like it will go either way. However, Asuka will get the better of Mickie by pinfall and will retain her title.

Alex: I’m going with Mickie James for this one! Probably a weird choice, but I’m an optimist these days! I’m all for Mickie James coming back to help the NXT women become stars and who better to stop Asuka’s streak than someone as accomplished as Mickie. Sure this might all be a one off appearance, but I definitely think that there’s more to come… although I can see Mickie adding yet another accolade to her already illustrious career.

Jack: As much as I would LOVE Mickie to win and absolutely live for it, I very much doubt she’ll stop Asuka. NXT’s taping schedule could support her lifestyle as a mother and she wouldn’t have to be away from home too much, but I think that’s the fanboy in me looking for a way she could actually win! Asuka will retain.

Josue: I probably would like Mickie’s odds against Asuka more if I didn’t already convince myself that this is a one-off appearance for Mickie. Though we’ve been surprised by previous events where a title changed hands, flashbacks to Charlotte/Sasha Banks at HIAC, I think it is safe to say Asuka will retain her title tonight.

Matthew: When you have two cagey veterans in the same ring together, be prepared for a masterpiece. Mickie James has battled mostly every women’s wrestling legend she has ever faced; From Trish Stratus to Lita to Victoria to Angelina Love to Gail Kim to Cheerleader Melissa; the list is endless. She faced the best and she had beaten the best because she is the more established name. Asuka on the other hand is the definition of a true Joshi wrestler. She has faced the best in Japan and the United States and she has become a folk heroine in the world of wrestling. If I had a choice between the two, I would pick Asuka to win because it doesn’t matter if you are an established women’s wrestler. Asuka is someone you shouldn’t take lightly.

Stephanie: Asuka will retain. I expect Mickie to give her the toughest battle she’s ever had to face. Asuka will either win clean, which would continue to put the divsion at a stand still, or she’ll finally lose it and go heel, giving her character a refreshing new arc to her unstoppable reign.

BREAKDOWN: 5 for Asuka, 1 for Mickie James.
