Former TNA Knockouts Champion Allie recently spoke with A Music Blog, Yea? (AMBY for short) to discuss women’s wrestling, signing with TNA after her collarbone injury and thoughts on why TNA fans have been so behind her Allie persona. Highlights below:

On the rise of women’s wrestling: “I’m so so proud of not only the women in our company but just women wrestlers as a whole. I think that there is a lot more attention on us. I think that we are looked as athletes now, which is something that I remember when I started back in 2004, it was still sort of the year of ‘We want puppies!’ or the Bra & Panties matches. I think it has just come a long way and it’s really exciting to see kind of where we’re headed.”

On her Allie character: “I’m really excited for the Allie character because I think that everyone has been Allie. Everyone has been bullied, everyone has been mistreated and everyone feels like they didn’t have a voice. So for Allie to finally have a voice and to say ‘No, you aren’t going to treat me this way!’, it was very amazing, I was very happy about that. Keep watching Allie because I promise this is not the first time she has found her ground. Just hold on tight because she is finding the strength and you’ll hear her roar very soon.”

On signing with TNA after her collarbone injury: “It was very emotional for me. When I got hurt I was out for six months. It was the first real injury I ever had and I had to have surgery on it. I think any athlete will tell you, when you can’t do what you’re passionate about, when you wake up in the morning thinking about what you can’t do because it is taken away from you, it really messes with your head. So when I came back, I made a promise to myself that, no matter what, this was going to be the best year. I’m just going to go out there and give it my all. So, when I was signed with my husband [TNA’s Braxton Sutter], we were signed together on the same day, it was one of the most emotional experiences in my life, I was so happy. It was a very very cool moment.”

On who her dream match would be with: “One would be Shawn Michaels. It probably would never happen but in my imaginary world it would and it would be awesome! And Trish Stratus, I love Trish Stratus.”

Allie also discusses her concerts experiences, favorite vegan meals, taste in music and television. Click here to watch the full interview!

As seen on last week’s Impact, Allie stood up for herself once again across her rivals Maria Kanellis and Laurel Van Ness. Since then, TNA have posted a video of Laurel with some harsh words and a challenge for Allie for this week’s episode of Impact:
