Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey official for WrestleMania

We are just over 24 hours removed from Becky Lynch’s monumental Royal Rumble win. While Men’s Rumble winner Seth Rollins needed until the end of the night to decide which World Champion he will face at Mania, Becky knew exactly who she wanted to face when she walked into Monday Night Raw.

Immediately following Ronda Rousey’s successful Raw Women’s Title match against Bayley, The Man hit the ring and chose the self-proclaimed Baddest Woman on the Planet as her WrestleMania opponent. Becky Lynch vs Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania is now official.

This match has long been speculated to be WrestleMania’s main event in the build-up to Mania season and we have seen plenty of building blocks aligned to set this feud and title match into motion. Now, as of tonight, the match will be taking place on the show.

As far as whether or not the match will truly be closing out the show, we will have to wait until the show takes place. In theory, winning the Royal Rumble should guarantee Becky Lynch a spot as a headliner at WrestleMania, but it would not be the first time that a Rumble winner got the short end of the stick.

Let us not forget that last year’s Women’s Rumble winner – Asuka – got her SmackDown Women’s Title match against Charlotte Flair as the second match of the main card. A few years earlier, 2011 and 2012 Rumble winners Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus respectively opened the show at WrestleMania 27 and WrestleMania 28.

Still, regardless of whether or not Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey get the headlining spot, the bigger news here is that Becky and Ronda will finally be squaring up on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey first stared down back in October on the post-show of Evolution. The then-SmackDown Women’s Champion was booked to take on the Raw Women’s Champion at Survivor Series, but an impromptu injury killed those plans just as their feud was getting hot after Becky attacked Ronda on Raw. Ronda would get her revenge by costing Becky her title at TLC.

It’s been a long road to get to this point, but it looks like we’ll finally get the payoff that we’ve been begging to see all this time at WrestleMania.
