Meiko Satomura to face the Session Moth at ScrapperMania 5

Meiko Satomura will return to Over the Top Wrestling (OTT) at ScrapperMania 5, where she will face off with one of the promotion’s breakout stars, Session Moth Martina.

OTT announced the match on Twitter earlier today. It follows Martina’s recent defeat in a steel cage match for the OTT Tag Team Championships at last weekend’s OTT Homecoming, where she tagged with the Lads from the Flats against the Kings of the North. The match made Martina the first Irish woman to compete in a steel cage match and earned widespread praise.

Meiko Satomura made her debut for the promotion last year at OTT Fan Appreciation Night, where she teamed with the Rascalz in a losing effort against More Than Hype. The joshi legend makes only a handful of appearances outside Japan every year, as she is primarily focused on Sendai Girls, the promotion she founded, where she also competes as one of its top stars.

Martina is no stranger to fighting joshi royalty. During her first tour of Stardom, where she is a member of the Oedo Tai stable, she challenged then-champion Io Shirai for the Wonder of Stardom Championship. The two-time OTT Women’s Champion, who has been praised by Becky Lynch, is having something of a moment. Many fans called on NXT UK or AEW to sign her earlier this year, and she’s since been booked by SHIMMER for something called “The Extended Sessions”. She was also the subject of a short documentary that aired on Ireland’s Virgin Media Three.

ScrapperMania 5 is being promoted as an “Ireland vs the World” event. Meiko Satomura is one of a number of foreign stars – including Jushin Thunder Liger and the OTT Champion, WALTER – who will clash with some of Ireland’s brightest talents. The event is set for March 16th at the National Stadium in Dublin. It will be preceded by a night of stand-up comedy featuring, among other spectacles, a blind date with the Session Moth.
