Statistics: Misuse of WWE talent since WrestleMania

WWE has a huge main roster between both RAW and SmackDown. In a Reddit post by WaitingOnNetwork, the statistics presented are showing that in total, 56 wrestlers (male and female) have not wrestled on television in two weeks or more. Two weeks may not seem very long, however, the majority of the talent hasn’t competed since WrestleMania. This upcoming week marks two months since that event occurred.

Former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose (now known as Jon Moxley) recently spoke on Chris Jericho’s podcast. He spoke about the low morale amongst talent and their creative frustrations backstage. Although his feelings can’t speak for everyone, it is clear based off of the product presented as of late that there is some truth to this. Crediting Vince McMahon as the one behind the recent stifling product, it may not change anytime soon.

With this in mind, let’s look at the statistics that have been presented. Although it is understood that not every talent can be used on television at one time, these numbers are alarming.

The first set features three women who haven’t competed in a match on television in two weeks to a month.

Although this list appears to be small, the next list is much larger. With the exception of Alicia Fox, the next six out of seven women haven’t been seen in a match since the Women’s WrestleMania Battle Royal. This means that it has almost been 60 days since they wrestled on a televised event.

These are the statistics that were pulled from Reddit, however, there are additional facts to note. Since the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on May 19, more women haven’t had a match since. These women include the following:

There is a total of 28 women on the main roster. Without including those on the injured list (Alexa Bliss, Ronda Rousey, Nia Jax, and Ruby Riott) 15 out of the 24 active roster talent is not being utilized. With five hours worth of programming a week between RAW and SmackDown these numbers are frightening.

Obviously, there are many circumstances for a lot of the women’s wrestlers who are on the list, some may be injured, taking a break from the company, or just unhappy with their current position. Regardless, this list is not a good look for the company.

With the idea of the women’s evolution in WWE happening in the past few years it appears to have stalled. This year women main evented WrestleMania for the first time in history. Since then the movement hit a wall. It seems as though the company is taking a step back from the women’s evolution. It can easily be seen right in front of everyone’s eyes.

These women who are on this list are some of the most talented women’s wrestlers in the world being unutilized currently. Something needs to change and it needs to happen, soon.
