AJ Mendez (Lee) will continue to keep herself busy as a writer as her next task is writing for a comic book. With the hit series GLOW releasing its third season debuting on Netflix recently, a return for the comic is not far behind. Slated for a fall release, Aj will be teaming up with actress Aimee Garcia to deliver its next chapter.
According to Hollywood Reporter, they will be joining returning artist Hannah Templer for GLOW vs. The Babyface. Garcia is most known for her acting skills on the tv show Lucifer. This will mark a first in the career for both Aj and Garcia as comic book writers.
Both ladies express their excitement for the project with the following statements:
“I’m a huge fan of GLOW,” said Garcia in a statement. “I grew up reading comics and never saw myself represented in them, so I’m excited to explore these trailblazing characters and create the change for the next generation. AJ and I are basically writing for our younger selves.”
“As huge fans of the Netflix series, Aimee and I are thrilled and honored to get our hands on the ladies of GLOW,” Mendez added. “Aimee’s experience in acting and my experience in pro-wrestling makes us a formidable tag team with a unique perspective to truly channel the voices of these hilarious heroines. Our mission as writing partners is to represent diverse, complex, and unbreakable female characters, which is why GLOW feels like the perfect fit.”
The series is scheduled to be released in November.
