This week’s RAW saw two women’s matches, one had implications of the upcoming pay-per-view event. WWE had advertised a Triple Threat heading into the show between the three RAW competitors for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Nia Jax vs. Asuka vs. Shayna Baszler was supposed to take place.
Asuka started the segment by entering the ring first. She cut a promo stressing the focus on Jax. Jax enters second and then Baszler. The match never gets underway as Baszler pulls Asuka out of the ring from under the bottom rope. The three attack each other, mostly outside the ring and involve the ladders that are set up on the outside. It ends with Jax standing alone in the ring as she thought about throwing a ladder at her two opponents that were at ringside. She chose not to toss the ladder as she drops it.
The second match was a rematch between Liv Morgan facing Ruby Riott. Morgan picked up a win against her former mentor and best friend last week putting her extremely over. It appeared last week may have been the last we would see between the two, but it continued this week. Morgan picks up another win with her finisher now being called ObLIVion.
Other than this there wasn’t much to go on for the women. Lana and Zelina were appearing as usual. Zelina was turning a look.
There was a video package for Becky Lynch highlighting her main event win from WrestleMania 35, but no clear picture for her moving forward. It is very apparent that she will not have a match at Money in the Bank. She should have just faced Baszler instead and a different woman should be in the MITB match.
Let’s get to the Winners & Losers of the week:
WINNER: Liv Morgan
Liv continues to impress and continues to show momentum. Not bad for someone who wasn’t featured for almost the entire year of 2019 for no reason. Her gimmick could still use some focus on it, but I am enjoying her in-ring work. She is definitely a fan favorite and can go far if they book her that way.
WINNER: Asuka
Purely on the fact that they never went through with the match and she didn’t eat the pin to Nia or Shayna. It was honestly the right move. I was actually looking forward to the match itself, however, it worked in Asuka’s favor that it didn’t actually take place.
LOSER: Ruby Riott
Although I am happy Liv is picking up wins, this does nothing for Ruby. She is putting Liv over, so that is good, but she hasn’t exactly soared to the top herself since her return. They could easily transition her over to a feud with Becky Lynch at this point. Give her the title and revisit the feud with Liv afterward.
