Emi Sakura celebrates her 25th year in wrestling

Japanese wrestling legend, Emi Sakura is celebrating her 25th year in wrestling today. This monumental achievement will be commemorated with a 25th Anniversary Show by Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling.

Sakura began her wrestling career in 1994 at the age of seventeen. Throughout her storied and accomplished career, she has wrestled for FMW, STARDOM, Pro Wrestling: EVE, and DDT Pro.

Last year Sakura appeared in AEW where she took on her protege and then AEW Women’s Champion, Riho at the PPV Full Gear.

Sakura has matches under her belt, an impressive list of championships and title reigns but she is known for being much more than a wrestler. Her contributions to the Japanese indie scene as a trainer, promoter are legendary. Sakura is the founder of Ice Ribbon and was solely responsible for training the most of the roster from 2006-2012.

Sakura also created Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling in Bangkok in 2012 and moved the promotion to Japan in 2019.

AEW star and EVP, Kenny Omega took to Twitter to congratulate Sakura on her 25th year in the business.
