AEW President Tony Khan comments on Thea Trinidad’s non-compete clause expiration

Thea Trinidad, formerly known as Zelina Vega, has been linked to AEW since her shocking release from WWE in November of last year. WWE released Trinidad for breach of contract when she reportedly refused to close her “only fans” account. After her release, Trinidad had a 90-day non-compete clause, which expired on February 11th.

In a recent interview with Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony Khan commented on Trinidad’s current situation.

“She was in a non-compete last time I checked. I’ve been waiting for that….I don’t talk to people when they have the non-compete. If hers expired, it must have just expired. I’ve been waiting on her non-compete to expire. I’d have to check the math to see if she expired. When we get through this tournament and through this pay-per-view, I’d be interested to see where she’s at,”

Trinidad would be an excellent addition to the AEW women’s division. She proved multiple times in WWE that she is one of the best talkers in the business. Trinidad was a highlight and a focal point of WWE’s programming in the throes of the pandemic. Before her release, she showed that she could go in the ring in her mini-feud with Asuka.

Since her release from WWE, Trinidad is very successful on her own Twitch account.
