AEW President and CEO Tony Khan commented on if we will see the women of AEW main event in the near future.
Talent such as Big Swole and AEW’s Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida has been on record saying that this is what they would like to see and are even goals to achieve. After the Revolution event over the weekend, Khan had his post-show media interview where he was asked this question.
“Very soon. It’s going to happen. What if I told you it was going to happen incredibly soon, like in the next several weeks? I have a feeling that might happen,” says Khan.
Also during this interview, Khan was asked what more does Red Velvet have to do in order to be officially named “All Elite.” Red Velvet has been working with the company since June 2020.
She has been on a winning streak since November and had an incredible showing on last week’s Dynamite as she teamed up with Cody Rhodes to face the in-ring debut of Jade Cargill and Shaq. Although she ended up with a loss from that match she has become very popular with the fans.
“She has very little to do. It’s coming. It’s coming. She’s tremendous, I can’t say enough good things about Red Velvet, by the way, thanks for bringing it up. When I talk about the extension of Dark, one thing I’m really proud of is there have been so many great young wrestlers that have gotten to do more and more and develop themselves, and we’ve seen a lot more of people that started on Dark and made their way to Dynamite, onto the pay-per-views. This past week, Red Velvet on Dynamite, was in one of the biggest matches we’ve had on Dynamite.”
Khan said, “Teaming with Cody against Shaq and Jade. She’s been awesome for us this year. Red Velvet, Will Hobbs, both members of The Acclaimed, Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, Lee Johnson, so many others that have come up through this pandemic and working on Dark, made a name for themselves and became really important parts of AEW. I think that’s really cool.”
