WrestleMania 37 is here, and the first night of the two-day extravaganza features a history-making main event. WWE announced that Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship will officially headline Night One of WrestleMania.
The main event match makes history for several reasons. Firstly it is the first women’s singles match to close the “Show of Shows”. Secondly, it is the first time two African-American women will be the main event of WrestleMania.
The Boss and the EST have been on a collision course after Belair won the Royal Rumble. Since then, they have teamed up, which of course, ended in a violent breakup. But apart from few altercations, the champion and challenger are yet to fight, which adds further anticipation to the already eagerly-awaited match.
The second women’s match on the card is the Tag Team Turmoil match. The teams of the Riott Squad, Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose, Natalya and Tamina, Naomi and Lana, Carmella and Billie Kay, will fight it out for the chance to face Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on Night Two of WrestleMania.
Natalya and Tamina have run roughshod over the women’s tag team division as of late and certainly have the momentum leading into WrestleMania. But the teams of Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose, The Riott Squad and Noami and Lana are chomping at the bit to get their shot at the tag titles.
