A match was made official yesterday for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania Backlash which is set to take place on May 16. Bianca Belair will renew a rivalry that she had earlier this year as she defends her title against Bayley.
On SmackDown, Bayley was talking a lot about Belair’s win at WrestleMania. As the ultimate Role Model, Bayley takes credit for helping Belair when she first came to the blue brand which led her to her victory at WrestleMania. She is miffed that she hasn’t received even a thank you for her efforts.
Bayley calls the champ rude, selfish, spoiled, and that she is going to teach her a lesson at the next pay-per-view. She is going to take back the title and is going to make Belair regret ever treating her in that way.
The Role Model was then interrupted by Montez Ford who had Belair on the phone. He told Belair that Bayley really has her name in her mouth tonight to which the champ said she would be right there (to handle the situation).
Once Belair arrived, Bayley had changed her tune and she provided nothing but compliments to the EST. Catching her off guard, Belair said that she didn’t expect that to happen as Bayley walked off. Bayley returned seconds later to then let out a huge laugh at Belair’s expense.
On today’s Talking Smack, Bayley followed up her verbal assault on Belair.
“Alright, she got lucky — you know what? This little honeymoon phase of hers? It’s done for!” Bayley exclaimed. “I’m back! She had her little luck in the Royal Rumble. She had a lot of luck at WrestleMania. You know how many times I’ve beaten Sasha Banks? You don’t see me with balloons everywhere. Dancing with my husband, get a life! This is our profession. You’re not at home, sister. And now you’re going to walk back into the ring with Bayley.”
“This is the only time I will say this to you, Bianca, I do have some respect for you,” Bayley admitted. “Which is why I want to have this match with you. I saw everything you can do at WrestleMania. I’ve been in the ring with you. I’ve been in a freaking obstacle course with you. I saw what you did at the Royal Rumble.
“I’ve seen what you did at NXT. I know everything about you, Bianca, but it doesn’t scare me because what you have done does not top what I have done, what I have built. And the way I am seen in this women’s division and professional wrestling. You are just a smidge. You’ve got a long way to go, sister, and you’re not going through me.” [h/t – Wrestling Inc.]
Also on SmackDown, we got the continuing saga of Tamina/Natalya and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Last week Natalya got a victory over Baszler while this week Tamina was able to take down Jax. Although not set yet, there seems to be a rematch brewing for WrestleMania Backlash (if we get one).
