Next week the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships will be on the line in a Street Fight.
The champions, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon will be defending their gold against The Way. Last week, Indi Hartwell said that she got herself and Candice LeRae a match against the champions but Blackheart/Moon had The Robert Stone brand set as opponents for tonight.
Earlier in the night, flowers were delivered to Blackheart/Moon as they were being interviewed backstage. At first, they were pleased but once Franky Monet saw that they were from Dexter Lumis, they wanted nothing to do with them. This clearly made Hartwell very upset about where she and Lumis stand. Lumis came out during Austin Theory’s match against Bronson Reed to see Hartwell. This didn’t go well for all parties involved and Theory ended up losing his match.
Moments later, The Way was backstage and had blamed all of this on Blackheart and Moon. This lit a fire under Hartwell who was told that the tag champs were after her man.
The match between Blackheart/Moon and The RSB was advertised as non-title and as the champs made their way (no pun intended) to the ring they got a bit distracted and didn’t even make it into the ring. At ringside on the other side of the barricade, they were being handed gifts. Flowers, cupcakes, and even a fruit basket were being delivered. They were then attacked from behind by The Way.
LeRae and Hartwell destroyed the champs and used the gifts as weapons including the flower vase! This certainly sent a message to the champions and thus the Street Fight stipulation was added.
As for the match between Blackheart/Moon and The RSB, the bell never rang and the match never took place. This however never stopped The RSB who lifted up the belts and ran around the ring as if they won the championships.
They didn’t.
The NXT Women’s Championship will also be on the line in two weeks time as Raquel Gonzalez will defend against Mercedes Martinez. Martinez had a match to open the show against Dakota Kai which resulted in a disqualification once Gonzalez interfered.
