On tonight’s Dark:Elevation, a second match for this week’s Dynamite was announced.
The champion Hikaru Shida will be facing Rebel after their encounter backstage. Kris Statlander was being interviewed about her upcoming Dark match against Diamante when Rebel and the number one contender Dr. Britt Baker interrupted.
Baker was gloating about her upcoming title match against Shida at Double or Nothing as the champion showed up and asked if someone said her name. Rebel then tried to ward off the champion with her crutch. Shida knocked the crutch out of her hand with her kendo stick and told her to bring it. Baker then said that Rebel will bring it….on Dynamite. Much to Rebel’s dismay.
Last week there was also an altercation between Baker and Shida during a photo shoot for Forbes.
Also on this week’s AEW Dynamite we will see Red Velvet in her first-ever televised championship match. She will be facing Serena Deeb for the NWA World Women’s Title.
This championship match will also be Deeb’s return as she has been sidelined while taking care of her knee since March. Her last match was against Riho in February and her last title defense was against Tay Conti in January.
In the vignette, Red Velvet discusses her upcoming opportunity. Speaking on the respect she has for Deeb she is aware that this is a battle of the Underdog versus the Veteran. She then discusses the history of the title and the honor and respect that it holds with its lineage. If she were to win then she says it would change the game. Velvet is ready to show everyone who Red Velvet really is.
Deeb has held the NWA Women’s Championship since October when she defeated Thunder Rosa. Currently in NWA, Kamille is the number one contender for this title. She has an upcoming rematch against Rosa with her number one contendership on the line. Added to that, if Rosa loses then she has to wrestle for only NWA. That match date has not been confirmed yet. The more important question now is who will be the NWA Women’s Champion after Wednesday?
NWA’s next pay-per-view, When Our Shadows Fall, takes place on June 6 and has Deeb listed for that show. A match has not been booked for her at this time.
As for the match results from Elevation tonight they were as follows:
Leyla Hirsch defeated Natalia Markova
The Bunny defeated KiLynn King
Tay Conti defeated Kiah Dream
Thunder Rosa defeated Robyn Renegade
