AEW has posted on their Twitter account that Julia Hart will be taking on Penelope Ford tonight on Dynamite.
The 19-year old had her first match with AEW in April and in her last two outings on Dark she has picked up two wins in a row. She has only appeared one time on Dynamite so far and that was facing Britt Baker in a squash match at Blood & Guts. She has been paired up with the Varsity Blonds.
The last time Ford was in the ring was in April when she battled a returning Kris Statlander. She ended up with a loss in that match but she had been picking up wins consistently beforehand.
Although nothing has been officially advertised for the AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker recently had a promo where she coined Nyla Rose as just another “jealous bitch in the back.” She says that Rose needs the title because it makes her unlike Baker herself, she makes the title. Rose picked up a win against Leyla Hirsch last week and prior to that she wrecked Baker’s title win celebration.
Speaking of Rose, it appears she is the next number one contender based on this week’s women’s rankings. She has bumped out Thunder Rosa from the top spot and has claimed it for herself. Rosa has moved to third while Tay Conti still holds in at the second spot. Former women’s champion Hikaru Shida is in fourth while Kris Statlander bumps Leyla Hirsch out of the rankings and takes the fifth position.
