WWE has made it official and Raquel Gonzalez will be defending her NXT Women’s Championship against her former tag team partner Dakota Kai at TakeOver:36. The event is set to take place the night after SummerSlam on Sunday, Aug. 22.
Two weeks ago, Kai shocked Gonazlez by turning on the champion when no other woman in the locker room would step up as a next opponent. Last week, Kai explained her reasoning for doing so. She declares she is no one’s sidekick and explained that Gonzalez pairing with her was supposed to elevate herself but has done quite the opposite.
Gonzalez is scheduled to give her reply to Kai on this week’s NXT.
