At Money in the Bank Charlotte Flair challenged Rhea Ripley for the RAW Women’s Championship.
Before the bell rang the live crowd erupted into chants of “We Want Becky” in reference to Becky Lynch‘s return. Flair responded brilliantly albeit uncharacteristically with a middle fingered gesture.
Despite the hostile beginning to the match, by the time it was over Flair and Ripley had the crowd chanting “This is Awesome”.
Flair was the guest of the most recent edition of Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette and spoke about her reaction to the chants.
“After the match, I’m walking to Gorilla and I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, I gave them the bird. Am I going to get in trouble?’ They pissed me off. It really pissed me off. I’ve got Rhea Ripley. First big pay-per-view and I get it, everyone is excited to have Becky back. I’m excited to have Becky back. You guys went from chanting ‘Becky’ to ‘This is awesome.’ If you know what I’m capable of, show the respect up front. I’m usually cookie-cutter, black and white, happy Monday, happy Tuesday. In that moment, I felt it and was like, ‘let me steal the show with Rhea Ripley because I know she’s that good. Don’t disrespect her.’ I’m used to it and can take the beating.”
Flair and Lynch have a long history and storied rivalry. It was during a feud with the Queen in which Lynch became the Man and the biggest name in wrestling.
