Mickie James is now a four-time Knockouts Champion after defeating Deonna Purrazzo at Bound for Glory.
James and Purrazzo have been on a collision course for the past couple of months. It all started when James interrupted Purrazzo to invite her to NWA EmPowerrr to face Melina. Since then, there have been in-ring brawls, a conference room brawl, and Purrazzo even took a trip to James’ home where the two had a barnyard throwdown.
The match saw many near falls and finishers executed. Purrazzo did everything she could to try and retain including introducing a chair into the match along with moving the referee in the way who was hit by James. James utilizes the chair by kicking it in the face of her opponent but only gets a near fall. James heads up top before Purazzo joins her and locks in an armbar in the ropes. After the submission break, James connects with a kick followed by a tornado DDT to get the pinfall and become the new Knockouts Champion.
This win for James makes her an overall 10 time Women’s Champion between her time with IMPACT and WWE. She ends Purrazzo’s reign at 343-days and snags the Knockouts Title for the first time since 2013. Mercedes Martinez has been watching this match closely and she now knows who she will be facing. Martinez won the number one contenders tournament at Knockouts Knockdown.
Also at Bound for Glory was the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match. A match that gives the winner the opportunity to face any champion of their choosing. This is an intergender match and several Knockouts were involved. Melina, Tasha Steelz, Rachael Ellering, Alisha, and Savannah Evans were involved. The match was won by Moose who would then cash in on Josh Alexander who had just defeated Christian Cage to become IMPACT World Champion. Moose is now the new IMPACT World Champion.
