Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez are set to face each other on next week’s NXT 2.0.
Jade has been trying to convince Gonzalez for a couple of weeks now to be her partner in the upcoming Dusty Tag Team Classic Tournament. Raquel keeps declining the offer feeling that Jade can’t hold up to the challenge and be the partner she needs. This week on NXT, Cora tried to prove herself by slapping Raquel but was caught and the two were broken up before anything got physical.
Next week, Cora will try to prove to Raquel that she should be her partner.
On this week’s NXT, two matches took place.
The results were as follows –
Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta & Kay Lee Ray defeated Toxic Attraction
Io Shirai defeated Tiffany Stratton
First, in the six-woman tag team match, KLR along with Hartwell and Pirotta all have one goal, to become champions. The match eventually broke down to KLR chasing the NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose around the ring with her bat in hand before they took the chase backstage. Still in the ring, Persia plants Gigi Dolin getting the win for her team.
By pinning one-half of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions this has to put Pirotta and Hartwell in good light prior to the Dusty Tag Team Classic brackets being announced.
The second women’s match had Io Shirai taking on Tiffany Stratton. Prior to their match, they had a backstage segment that started with Shirai talking to her tag team partner, Zoey Stark. Stark is still injured so she won’t be back in time for the Dusty Classic. Stratton interrupts and makes a bold statement about defeating Shirai later on in the night.
The match itself allowed Stratton to show off a lot of offense. However, it would be the veteran Io that picks up the win off of her moonsault.
Post-match backstage, Stratton was on the phone complaining about the match result when she ran into Wendy Choo.
Vengeance Day will be the next TV special on Feb. 15.
