The WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal is reportedly set to make a return this year at WrestleMania 38. If this is the case, it will be the third official match of its type after having had a hiatus for the past two years. It was previously won by Naomi in 2018 and Carmella in 2019.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Women’s Battle Royal will be returning for the show for the third time, but the men’s won’t be. There was a break from both the men’s and women’s Battle Royals in 2020 due to the pandemic, however, the men’s returned in 2021 and took place on SmackDown.
The plan as of now is to have the men’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal take place on a show before WrestleMania such as Raw or SmackDown either March 28 or April 1. This will be similar to last year when the men’s battle royal took place on the SmackDown prior to WrestleMania which was won by Jey Uso.
Although the match hasn’t officially been confirmed by WWE, both previous Women’s Battle Royals were recently uploaded in their entirety on YouTube.
If the Women’s Battle Royal were to return, this would make four women’s matches over the course of the two nights. The current card for WrestleMania is as follows:
WrestleMania 38 Saturday Night One April 2 –
- Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair – Raw Women’s Championship
- Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey – SmackDown Women’s Championship
WrestleMania 38 Sunday Night Two April 3 –
- Carmella & Queen Zelina (c) vs. Naomi & Sasha Banks – Women’s Tag Team Championships
Not officially announced –
- Women’s Battle Royal
