Two More Names Advance in NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

This week’s NXT 2.0 had the final two first-round matches of the inaugural NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament. The two matches had Lash Legend taking on Tatum Paxley while Roxanne Perez challenged Kiana James.

Lash Legend defeated Tatum Paxley

In the first match, Legend took on Paxley and the two had a solid fight between them. In the final moments of the match, Paxley hit a suplex before delivering a standing corkscrew splash. She gripped her knee during this which was a focal point from Legend throughout the match.

Paxley attempted a second electric chair of the match but Legend countered out of it with a pump kick to get the pin and the victory. Legend advances to the semi-finals.

Roxanne Perez defeated Kiana James

The second match between Roxanne Perez and Kiana James was a well-paced match that witnessed the first look at the latter’s new gimmick. Formerly known briefly by her real-name Kayla Inlay, has only shown off her new look a couple of times on NXT: Level Up.

The final moments of the match had Perez and James exchanging strikes. Perez hit a Thesz Press on her opponent and a Russian leg sweep for a near fall. James hits a side slam on Perez to get a near fall of her own. Perez gets in a Code Rok in the corner of the ring to end the match with a pinfall.

Perez will face Legend in the semi-finals. The other semi-finals match determined last week is Nikkita Lyons vs. Fallon Henley.

After the match, Perez was seen celebrating backstage. She was joined by her real-life best friend Cora Jade who urged her to try out for NXT. They were interrupted by Elektra Lopez who said Perez won’t beat Legend in the semi-finals. She declares that she will be facing Alba Fyre next week.
