Latest Update On Maria Kanellis Bennett And ROH Women’s Division

Maria Kanellis Bennett is currently contracted with IMPACT and according to the most recent report by Fightful Select, she has a few months remaining on her current deal. Prior to joining IMPACT earlier this year, Maria was the brains behind the ROH women’s division blossoming.

In 2021, ROH saw a rebranding of its women’s division with a brand new championship as well as a weekly YouTube program devoted to just the women named Women Division Wednesdays. A tournament over last summer saw Rok-C become the new champion. She dropped the title to Deonna Purrazzo when she was signed with WWE.

ROH took a hiatus at the end of 2021 with a return set for April. It returned with the Supercard of Honor event with prior news that the AEW CEO Tony Khan purchased the promotion. Maria went on record saying that she would love to work with ROH again and have a talk with Khan in regards to this.

According to Fightful, they spoke with Maria who says the two had a very good 30-45 minute conversation. She believes they’ll likely have another talk when ROH makes its re-debut and specified that when she talks about helping out that division she doesn’t speak as a talent, so she doesn’t feel as though the nature of her IMPACT deal would be affected by that. Maria specified that she is happy in IMPACT and loves how creative has been so far.

Outside of IMPACT and ROH, Maria has started her own women’s wrestling promotion titled Women’s Wrestling Army. The next tapings for that promotion will take place on July 8 & 9 in Chicago. She is working with Bobby Cruise on this project who was helping her with ROH.

It was just announced today that Maria is bringing in Allison Danger as a “coach” for Women’s Wrestling Army.

It is still to be determined when ROH will return with its weekly programming but the promotion has confirmed its next pay-per-view to be Death Before Dishonor on July 23. AEW’s Mercedes Martinez is currently the ROH Women’s World Champion.
