The Outcasts Spoil Contract Signing; Statlander Advances in Owen Hart Tournament

On the road to the Forbidden Door in 11 days, AEW Dynamite looks to make a match official and continue some legacies along the way.

First, the TBS Champion Mercedes Moné has a message for NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer after defeating Zeuxis last week.

Tonight, we see the title contract signing between Stardom’s Mina Shirakawa and the AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm. Shirakawa has had eyes on the title, but Storm is not so willing to let go of the title along with her precious protege.

In the ring, we see Mariah May ready to officiate this contract signing. Both the challenger and champion arrive to the ring, and May states that no matter what she “loves them both.”

Shirakawa tells May to “shut up” and that Storm was a legend in Stardom and became a star in AEW. But, recently has gone soft, and that everyone wants Mina and will take her title along with May. Storm says that “this buffet is wide open” and the two make it official.

Shirakawa then tells May to choose between the two but is interrupted by The Outcasts, Saraya and Harley Cameron. But they’re not alone as they’ve brought on Anna Jay to even the odds in this brawl. Storm tries to prop up Saraya on the contract table but ends up crashing, with this team leaving out on top.

Next, is a quarter-final match in the Owen Hart Tournament as Kris Statlander and Nyla Rose go head-to-head. Rose looks to exploit her strength edge and hometown crowd advantage early but takes too long as Statlander gains control.

Statlander tries to wear down Rose throughout the match but knocks out Statlander for her troubles and sees an opening for a cannonball.

Statlander attempts to go a 450 Splash but ends up missing for her troubles. But eventually, Rose gets caught up in the top rope and Statlander sees this advantage and hits the Tombstone Piledriver to advance to the semi-finals.

Post-match Stokeley Hathaway has some words for Willow Nightingale, but she’s on standby ready to receive their message. She lets them know that this Friday on Rampage she goes against Serena Deeb in a quarterfinal match in the tournament. And if Nightingale advances, she gets to go against Statlander herself.

What did you think of tonight’s AEW Dynamite? How will the involvement of The Outcasts play out in this AEW Women’s Title match? Can Nightingale overcome Deeb to advance? Let us know in the comments below!
