Rhea Ripley has been out of action since successfully defending the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania XL in April. She has been out with a shoulder injury. The title now belongs to Liv Morgan who has been on a revenge tour to take everything that was once Mami’s.
But when may Mami return?
Fightful Select has reported the following:
Rhea Ripley before WWE SummerSlam? That’s the internal hope from WWE.
The dominant Rhea Ripley was sidelined in April with a shoulder injury that forced her to vacate the World Championship. However, she’s been constantly referenced on TV by Liv Morgan and Judgment Day, setting the table for when she returns.
There had been reports that Rhea Ripley wasn’t scheduled for WWE SummerSlam. However, WWE sources had indicated that they have things constructed that Ripley can slide in and return to the program whenever she’s ready, even in a non-wrestling capacity.
There have already been discussions internally about her being involved in the World Title program upon her return, as that would be logical considering where she left off. However, a WWE source that Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful spoke with said that the story available at the time of her return will dictate what programs she’s in, as many creative decisions have been made in her absence that still involve her.
We’ve not been told if there are any active creative plans in order, or if the company has inquired with Ripley, only that there was a hope that she could appear on screen in some capacity ahead of SummerSlam if all went well.
