Athena Retains Against Abadon, Approaches 700 Days As Champion

Author: Alfonso

Happy Halloween, everyone! On this episode of ROH TV, they had their Halloween Special episode, with three matches featuring women of the ROH roster and the main event, a Halloween Ring of Horror match—whatever that means—between the forever ROH Women’s champion, The Fallen Goddess, Athena, versus the self-proclaimed Last Living Dead Girl, Abadon.

The first match of the night (or at least of our interest) is a singles match between the current CMLL Grand Prix of Amazonas 2024 winner, Reyna Isis, and Lady Frost. The match ended with Reyna Isis’s finisher La Flor del Desierto, a diving leg drop from the second rope given to Lady Frost.

The second match of the night was an exhibition match for Billie Starkz, as she defeated Blair Onyx in a short match. Trish Adora appeared ringside with the Infantry, where they scored another win.

Getting closer to the main event, there was a recap showing how Diamante attacked the ROH Women’s World Television Champion, La Red Velvet. Diamante defeated Aminah Belmont with a rolling cutter.

In the main event, Athena came down to the ring only with Lexy Nair after Billie decided to pass that one out in a backstage segment. The match seems to be a no-disqualification; falls count anywhere match while both wrestlers were tied to each other with a chain.

One of the highlights of the match was Abadon putting Athena through a table in their fourth attempt, Abadon taking a power bomb to the steel steps and getting busted open in the forehead after some assistance from Lexy Nair.

Athena won the match with the O face on the outside of the ring. After this win, the Fallen Goddess continues her reign as the longest reigning “forever” champion, nearing 700 days as champ at 692.

You can watch the full match on the ROH website and the highlights on their Youtube channel. This is it for now. What did you think about the matches? And who do you think could be Athena’s next challenger?
