Pro-Wrestling: EVE has announced a major new deal which will see the company launch its own monthly wrestling school in London, as well as hold monthly live events.
The official announcement was made moments ago on the BBC London 9.49 FM radio station, however, Diva Dirt spoke to promoter Dann Read earlier today for more exclusive news on the deal.
EVE will be holding the monthly wrestling school, and monthly live events, in conjunction with the British Wrestling Council. The bell will ring for the Pro-Wrestling: EVE Academy on Sunday, February 19th, and will continue on a regular schedule of one Sunday per month. The wrestling school will take place during the day, with a live show in the early evening. The school is located at Performance Space in Hackney Wick, East London.
As a result of the deal, EVE will be running far more regularly as opposed to two tapings per year, as has been the norm, making EVE one of the most regular female promotions alongside Ice Ribbon in Japan, WSU in the US, and other promotions.
The shows will be separate from the main EVE tapings, going under the name Project Eden, and will feature a mix of the EVE Academy trainees and current EVE stars such as champion Jenny Sjodin. The Project Eden shows will be taped for a potential new DVD series, I’m told, that will be separate from the main EVE DVD series.
With that in mind, EVE would potentially be running 14 taped shows per year compromised of the 12 Project Eden shows and two main roster tapings which will continue to emanate from Sudbury, Suffolk. That number is pretty high for an all-female promotion.
Speaking to Diva Dirt about the new deal, Read said: “When my wife Emily and I began Pro-Wrestling: EVE it’s purpose was to highlight the talents of the female professional wrestlers of Europe who, for the most part up to that point, had gone almost completely unnoticed.”
He continues: “Now, just two years later I think it’s effectively a badly kept secret that many of those ‘with power’ in the wrestling industry consider Europe to be the hotbed of future professional wrestling stars and it’s important for us both from a company standpoint and in our responsibility as being the leading female professional wrestling promotion in Europe, that we continue this trend getting the next generation of talent started on their journey and making sure that there will always be someone ready, willing, able and begging to be the next big star on the EVE roster.”
The EVE Academy launch falls the day after the next Pro-Wrestling: EVE taping, headlined by Alpha Female vs Jenny Sjodin, on February 18th in Sudbury, Suffolk. Sounds like it will be a big weekend indeed for EVE!
More details on the EVE Academy and Project Eden will become available in the lead up to February 19th. Keep your eyes locked to www.evewrestling.com and @ProWrestlingEVE on Twitter for more.
