With two guest performers already announced for WrestleMania, WWE is hiring in-house for its patriotic show-opening performance.
WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia, who returned to the WWE last year, will perform ‘America the Beautiful’ to kick off WrestleMania 28 — her first ‘Mania back after a two year absence.
Lilian completes a bill that will also include hip hop stars Flo Rida and Machine Gun Kelly, also slated to perform at ‘Mania.
Speaking on landing the show-opening performance, Lilian told WWE.com: “When I got the news this morning, I screamed. I even teared up, I’m so thrilled.”
Lilian has previously performed the national anthem twice at WrestleMania. The honor has usually gone to guest performers — including Aretha Franklin and Nicole Scherzinger — in the past, but this being Lilian’s first ‘Mania back in WWE, it seems fitting that she take the role.
WWE.com reports that after WrestleMania 28, Lilian will hold the record for most musical performances at WrestleMania.
