Reports surfaced yesterday that WWE Diva Maxine, real name Karlee Perez, has quit the company due to frustration with her contract and her current role.
Speaking to a reliable source, I’m told that the news took many in WWE by surprise.
Report: WWE Diva Quits Company?
It was also intimated to me that, like the Gail Kim situation last year, things may not be as simple as Maxine quitting. In the case of Gail, WWE did not grant her a release from her contract, rather making her wait out the remainder of her deal. At the time of this writing, WWE has yet to report that Maxine has been released from her contract.
The difference in the two situations, however, has been Maxine’s silence thus far on her WWE status. Where Kim announced that she had quit on Twitter, Maxine has been absent from Twitter for the past few days.
Perhaps the only clue that could be taken as reference to Maxine’s situation is a quote posted Tuesday about living in the present. She wrote: “If you worry about what might be, and wonder what might have been, you will ignore what is.”
