It is being reported by the Wrestling Observer that Awesome Kong and Shanna will not have their AEW contracts renewed. Their profiles have been removed from AEW’s website. The company hasn’t made an official announcement.
Awesome Kong was last seen in a match against Skyler Moore on Dark in January 2020. She was a member of the Nightmare Collective which started with her and Brandi Rhodes and was eventually disbanded. Kong first appeared for the company as a surprise entrant in what was originally a Three Way Match at the first Double or Nothing in 2019. That match became a Four Way which included Kylie Rae, Britt Baker, and Nyla Rose with Baker picking up the win. Kong also appeared in the first Women’s Casino Battle Royale in 2019.
As for Shanna, she missed the majority of 2020 and didn’t work through the beginnings of the pandemic. She returned in November and has had a handful of matches mostly on Dark which she had won the majority of them. Her one match on Dynamite since returning was against Baker in a losing effort. Shanna was last seen losing to Leyla Hirsch on Elevation in April.
