AEW Full Gear Preview & Predictions: 11.19.22

AEW’s next big event is tonight which is Full Gear. There are three women’s matches on the card that can’t be missed.

The matches are as follows:

Saraya vs. Dr. Britt Baker

TBS Championship

Jade Cargill (c) vs. Nyla Rose

Interim AEW Women’s World Championship

Toni Storm (c) vs. Jamie Hayter

First up we have Saraya returning to the ring for the first time in five years. The former Paige has been 100% cleared due to a series of career-ending neck injuries. She officially shocked the world and showed up to AEW in September and immediately became All Elite. Over the past couple of months, she has built this rivalry with Baker. For a summary of their

Predictions:

COLBY:

This is without a doubt the match that I’m most interested in on the entire Full Gear card. To witness Saraya’s WWE career begin in NXT, take off on the main roster, and then be cut short the way. it did, it is emotional and satisfying to now see her make this comeback on a big platform against arguably the face of AEW’s women’s division. They’ve done a solid job with the story week to week on Dynamite, and now it’s time to see what they can really do together in between the ropes. To really deliver on the groundwork that’s been laid, Saraya needs to bring this full circle with a victory.

Winner: Saraya

NICK:

Who would have thought this moment would have come? I am extremely happy for Saraya and I can’t imagine how nervous and excited she is at this moment. With that being said, she is up against the biggest name in the women’s division for AEW. If this wasn’t Saraya’s big return match, I would say that Baker would take it but in order to cement Saraya as an in-ring competitor again I see her winning.

Winner: Saraya

Next, we have the TBS Championship. For the first time since probably the title was introduced at the beginning of this year, there is at least a storyline involving this title. Nyla Rose stole the belt a few weeks ago and has been mocking the actual champion, Cargill, ever since.

For the first time, the focus wasn’t just on the fact that Cargill is undefeated, which is still an important scenario, but that she has run into someone who truly challenges her. And not just with the physical aspect, but Nyla can battle right back with her words in promos.

Predictions:

COLBY:

This has probably been my favorite TBS Championship rivalry so far. I was hyped for Jade vs. Athena, but the story here has surpassed that for me. Nyla Rose has been able to let her personality shine through now more than it has in the last few years. And she’s funny! The former world champion is now the biggest threat to everything Cargill has built over the last two years, and that has made for quality television when they have the spotlight. I have no problem being wrong here, so I will stick with what I want and predict we get a new champion.

Winner: Nyla Rose

NICK:

I have been enjoying Nyla showing her true self in this storyline and for that, I think she should be rewarded. It has been the most interesting Nyla has been and her character can go far. Jade has grown tremendously but at some point, we need to move on with this belt and who holds it. I think for the sake of mixing things up and to have something different, Nyla should win here.

Winner: Nyla Rose

Lastly, we have the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship on the line as the champion Toni Storm defends against Jamie Hayter. Storm has been interim champion since the AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa was sidelined with an injury.

The growing rivalry between Storm and Hayter comes from two former roommates. During the pandemic, they shared a home together. Hayter feels as though she has been breaking her back to climb the ladder while Storm feels that Hayter isn’t the person she used to be. She also feels that Hayter is Baker’s friend now.

Predictions:

COLBY:

I know this trope is never going to go away, but I feel tired of the “my former friend” storylines. It may be fresh for AEW, but some of us just saw that be exhausted on NXT with Cora Jade vs. Roxanne Perez. Nevertheless, I have no doubt Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter are going to go out there and tear it up. We may see Hayter’s best showing to date, but I don’t think this will be her crowning moment. There’s something about the fact that it’s still the “interim” title reign that’s preventing me from believing Storm will drop the title to anyone before Thunder Rosa returns.

Winner: Toni Storm

NICK:

As much as I would love to see Jamie take the title, with it being still “interim” I don’t see a point in it changing hands. I expect Thunder Rosa to perhaps return tonight and then we can just move forward with one title. I expect a great match between the two, but Storm will retain.

Winner: Toni Storm
