AEW Revolution Preview & Predictions: 03.06.22

Tonight is AEW’s big pay-per-view Revolution event taking place in Orlando, Fla. The event will have three women’s matches on the card with two being championship bouts.

The matches are as follows:

Legit Leyla Hirsch vs. Kris Statlander – Buy-In preshow

Jade Cargill (c) vs. Tay Conti – TBS Championship

Dr. Britt Baker (c) vs. Thunder Rosa – AEW Women’s World Championship

In the Buy-In match, tensions have escalated to an all-time high between Hirsch and Statlander. The feud has been going for months and Statlander got the better of their first encounter back in December.

Prediction: Kris Statlander is pretty successful in singles competition. With the feud lasting already months, if Leyla were to win I could see it continuing. However, I think Statlander will take the win once again here.

On the main card, Tay Conti has stepped up to answer Jade Cargill’s open challenge. Since defeating Ruby Soho to become the inaugural champion in January, Cargill has continued her winning streak by successfully defending against the likes of Anna Jay, Julia Hart, A.Q.A., and The Bunny. Now Conti is determined to be the one to not only take the belt off of Cargill but end her winning streak by making her 28-1.

Prediction: Tay could realistically be the one to end Jade’s reign but her losing it at this point would seem too early. I see her make it a bit further in her undefeated streak. Cargill will retain.

A feud that has come full circle is the biggest one on this card which is Dr. Britt Baker defending her AEW Women’s World Title against Thunder Rosa. These two have perhaps the most talked-about women’s match in AEW history so far when they battled in their Unsanctioned match a year ago.

Baker has been champion since Double or Nothing last year in May after defeating Hikaru Shida. She has faced many in the past 10-months but none can match the biggest competitor she has had in AEW. Rosa pinned Baker in a tag team bout on last week’s Dynamite and hopes to do it again tonight to walk away as the new women’s champion.

Prediction: Personally, I feel that Baker’s reign has run its course. And with the history between these two women, it only feels right if Rosa takes the title here. They could have a rematch at Double or Nothing but I feel that Rosa needs to come out on top this time and become the new champion.
