AEW will be airing their first mixed-tag team match since the organization started and will be shown on AEW Dark. The match features Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian facing AEW’s Women’s World Champion Riho and half of the World Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega. It was taped during the Chris Jericho cruise but hasn’t been aired until now.
The match is currently being billed as a mixed-tag team, however, it is said to be more intergender. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer was on the ship and was able to see it live. He says that there is plenty of interaction between the genders. Generally in a mixed tag-team match the men wrestle the men and in turn, the women wrestle the women.
AEW’s CEO, Tony Khan once mentioned that the fans would not be seeing intergender wrestling in AEW. He spoke against it and gave an example of why he wasn’t for it. He did not approve of an incident that involved Jordynne Grace and Brian Cage in a Battle Royal at the All In
