Fans of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) will be excited to learn the newly-formed promotion will announce a new television deal next Wednesday before the WarnerMedia Upfront. Per The Wrap, their deal with Turner is “virtually done.”
The All Elite Wrestling (AEW)-Turner deal is now “virtually done,” a person with knowledge of the plan tells TheWrap exclusively. Current plans call for the partnership to be announced through select press one hour before WarnerMedia’s Wednesday upfront event, the individual said. The arrangement made between the parties called for a small group of reporters to be informed of the agreement on an embargoed basis the evening before.
The Wrap also reported the current plan is for Turner to “begin airing a weekly AEW wrestling show this fall.”
We know that Monday Night Raw airs on Mondays. Then with the new television deal with Fox, SmackDown Live will air on Fridays, instead of Tuesdays. Currently, it’s unclear what day AEW’s weekly show will air on.
The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The rep for Turner wouldn’t comment when contacted by The Wrap and AEW hasn’t responded yet.
AEW will present their first pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing, at the end of the month on May 25. It will be interesting to see how everyone in the wrestling community reacts to their first show as a promotion. The pre-show the show will live on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
