Former three-time WWE Divas Champion Aj Lee (Mendez) spoke recently with Kristine Leahy on Fair Game. Since leaving WWE in 2015, Lee has become a writer with her book Crazy is My Superpower which debuted at number 10 on The New York Times Best Seller list.
Along with becoming a writer, she is also a huge advocate for mental health awareness and animal welfare. It is rare since leaving the squared circle that Mendez partakes in a sit-down interview to talk about wrestling and her experience.
She opens up to Leahy about her book, what led her to become a wrestler, personal struggles, and fan interactions. She also talks about keeping her wrestling persona separate from her real-life self.
When asked if she would ever return for one more match the answer may surprise a lot of fans.
“Oh my gosh. I’d say never say never because every time I’ve said never in my life I’ve ended up doing the thing. I’m never going to date a wrestler. I’m never going to date another wrestler, and then you know it keeps going and I married one. I say that I don’t know what the future holds. To not hold your breath, but never say never.”
Can we take that as a maybe? All hope is not lost.
