The longest reigning champion on any brand in the WWE, Kay Lee Ray, will have to defend her NXT UK Women’s Title in the next couple of weeks. On Nov. 19, she will face a familiar foe in that of Piper Niven as the two battle it out in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
These two always put together a great match. Most recently was during the recent return of NXT UK in September. Niven tried to take the title off of Ray once the tapings started back up for the first time since March. Niven wasn’t able to end the record-breaking reign at that time but maybe her time is coming.
The two also battled it out in January at TakeOver: Blackpool II in a Triple Threat that also included Toni Storm. Storm would later go on to have an “I Quit” match with Ray which was her last match for that specific title.
Niven and Ray are no strangers to each other nor are they strangers to a Falls Count Anywhere type of bout. The match was presented after Niven took care of Jinny who also has had her eye on the gold. Regardless of who makes it out of this match as champion, it is safe to say that Jinny wants first dibs.
During this week’s NXT UK, tensions escalated as Niven dragged Ray around backstage. Niven would rip off Ray’s championship from around her waist and hold it up in the air as referees and officials tried pulling her away from the champion. Eventually, Niven would drop the title and walk away leaving Ray limping with her title held close to her.
Prior to this interaction, Jinny did have a match and it was against the debuting Aleah James. James is a rising British star who has done work on the indies for RevPro. The Fashionista would make quick work of the rookie though and pick up the win. James has only been wrestling for a short time so far, which bodes well for her that she has received this opportunity.
