Alexa Bliss comments on WWE’s release of Bray Wyatt

Many wrestling fans have spent their day shocked at the news on the release of WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt. WWE broke the news today that Wyatt, also known as The Fiend, is no longer with the company. Alexa Bliss shared her thoughts on the news and just like fans, she is shocked as well.

Bliss said the following in a tweet –“I really am at a loss for words… thank you so much Windham for everything you’ve done for this company. The most fun I’ve had is working with you. Such an amazing talent & the most kind person. I’m just in shock.”

Bliss made her Twitter account private after posting this statement.

Bliss’ gimmick since last year has stemmed from Wyatt’s “The Fiend” character. She joined him last summer at The Horror Show Extreme Rules pay-per-view as she made a cameo in his cinematic match against Braun Strowman. From this, Bliss dropped her previous gimmick where she was a former two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion with Nikki Cross and moved to the direction we see her in now.

She joined The Fiend often up until WrestleMania 37 in April where she was a catalyst to The Fiend losing to Randy Orton. Bliss was a big component to the Orton feud even defeating him at Fastlane. This was the last time Wyatt was on WWE programming and Bliss’ character explained that she was moving on and introduced Lilly her doll. Alexa’s Playground is her version of Wyatt’s Firefly Funhouse and gave more depth to her character. She previously had A Moment of Bliss segments prior to her gimmick change.

The Wrestling Observer is stating that Dave Meltzer has been told that Wyatt’s release was due to “budget cuts.” This is the same excuse WWE has been giving all year since releases started in April. Wyatt first signed with WWE in 2009 and became a major fan favorite with The Wyatt Family.

Mickie James who was released by WWE in April commented on the release as well. She also clarified her statement sending nothing but love to Alexa Bliss. When James returned to WWE for her last run with the company she was paired with Bliss.
