Women’s wrestling legend Allison Danger returned to the ring for one night only on October 27. She teamed with her nephew Colby Corino for the first time to take on Brandon and Kasey Kirk at SHP: Colby Corino’s Painted Black event. The match occurred in the semi-main event on the card, now streaming on IWTV.
Danger retired in 2013 after suffering a brain injury. Since then, she’s focused on coaching for SHIMMER, WWE, and Women’s Wrestling Army. When it came to deciding to come out of retirement for one more match after nearly a decade away from the squared circle, Danger told WrestleZone that it’s all her nephew’s fault.
“It’s Colby’s fault. It’s all Colby’s fault, I’ll be honest,” Danger said. “When he reached out to me, he’s like, ‘Do you wanna do this?’ I was like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘Come on, come on. Just one night? You know it’s gonna be fun.’ And I had moments where I watched him versus his dad at the Colby 25th anniversary show last August of 2021 where I was like, ‘Aw, man, they make me wanna get back in the ring again.’ I was like, ‘Nah, it’s gonna hurt.’ Then he asked me, and I was like, ‘I don’t think so. I don’t think so.’ And then I asked my brother, ‘Is it crazy that I kinda wanna do it?’ And he was like, ‘No, you should totally do it.’ And I’m like, ‘Dammit, you guys.’ So here I am. I’m doing it, and I’m only doing one. It’s funny because a lot of people have been like, ‘Can we get you for a match?’ And I’m like, ‘Nah, I’m not getting back in the ring.’ But it’s my nephew. I’ve gotten to wrestle with my brother and against my brother, so now to wrestle with my nephew, it just comes full circle.”
Danger received “you still got it” chants from the crowd in Williamstown, New Jersey after she was able to tap out Kasey with the Muta Lock.
