Angelina Love defeated Quinn McKay over the weekend in order to earn a first-round bye in the upcoming ROH Women’s Tournament. Maria Kanellis-Bennett let Love know previously that if she was able to defeat McKay then she would earn this advantage. Love got the pin after McKay was distracted by Mandy Leon on the ring apron.
This was McKay’s in-ring debut for ROH. She has been working with the promotion since 2019 as a backstage interviewer.
McKay does have a little bit of experience in the ring as she has had a handful of matches on the indies before transitioning into the backstage interviewer role. While speaking with My Big Break, McKay spoke on how she would feel being in the ring more.
“It’s overwhelming in general because I feel the weight and that everything is going to change. If I don’t take it one day at a time, I start to have a meltdown. I would like to say, as someone who consistently has too much on my plate, that I would like to continue to be a broadcaster and a host and an interviewer and continue to work in the ring, but is that physically possible and something someone can do on a full-time schedule? I don’t know. I’ll just take it one day at a time.” [h/t Fightful]
Other than Love who is now bypassing the first-round, Rok-C won her golden ticket into the upcoming tournament. Last week, Sumie Sakai defeated Vita Vonstarr. Maria will be announcing who will be entering into the tournament from those two women on this week’s Women’s Division Wednesday.
