Despite ending off the year very soon, tonight on AEW Dynamite, new feuds look to kick off and gain momentum within the women’s division.
Renee Paquette looks to get a word with the TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, Mercedes Moné. After Kamille was brutally attacked during last week’s Rampage, Paquette wants to know if she had anything to do with it. Moné says she’s not liable for whatever happens to Kamille because she quit.
But, now her focus is on the upcoming match tonight between Anna Jay and Penelope Ford. Jay had professed her sights for the TBS Championship last week on Collision, so Moné wants a closer look.
Next, we see a haunting message from Julia Hart directed towards, you guessed it, Jamie Hayter.
Hayter has an answer for Hart and says she’s ready to fight her anytime as she continues her trek toward the International Women’s Cup at Wrestle Dynasty.
Jay and Ford have three years of history having last competed in the last Rampage of 2021 in a Street Fight. The two rivals look to face each other with a lot to prove tonight.
The two face off and after a couple of back and forth forearm shots they meet each other in the corner. Ford catches Jay in the corner and drives her knees into Jay on the apron. Jay spills outside and gets sent into the steel steps.
The match is all in Ford’s favor throughout most of the match, until Jay catches Ford on the top rope and sends her flying. Ford tries to fight back against a fired-up Jay and attempts to go for a Moonsault but misses. Jay manages to get a hold of Ford and drives her through the mat for the win.
A victorious Jay has a mic in hand and calls out Moné who knows she’s watching. Moné arrives to the ring and admires Jay’s confidence. But, expresses that Jay should come back to her once she’s done something in the business. Jay answers with a slap to The CEO, but Moné doesn’t have time for this. Jay’s gutsiness had proved its worth as she gets a shot at the TBS Championship at Holiday Bash.
Paquette is again backstage with the AEW Women’s World Champion, Mariah May, to explain her actions. May says that this division just needs to get to work. Mina Shirakawa with a champagne bottle in hand plants it in May’s hand and tells her to do it to her face. Come next week at Winter Is Coming, Shirakawa asks May to make her work for it.
What did you think about tonight’s AEW Dynamite? Does Jay have what it takes to dethrone The CEO? Can Hayter finally get her hands on Hart? Who will come out the AEW Women’s World Champion next week? Let us know in the comments below!
