The rumors/spoilers have been flowing but WWE officially has announced the Women’s Tag Team Championship match for this Friday’s SmackDown.
As the spoilers depicted, Asuka & Charlotte Flair will be defending their Women’s Tag Team Titles in a triple threat against Bayley/Carmella and Bianca Belair/Sasha Banks. It will be an elimination match and this will be their first defense since winning the titles.
Neither challenging team is well established or is a normal tag team. Belair and Banks did team together recently at the Tribute to the Troops special. The only established tag team on the SmackDown roster is The Riott Squad who are not included in this match.
Asuka and Flair won the Women’s Tag Titles from Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler at the TLC event last Sunday. This was Flair’s return to the ring for the first time in six months and the win made her a Grand Slam Champion. Asuka is a double champion as she also holds the RAW Women’s Championship.
