Asuka had perhaps everything to gain and nothing to lose at SummerSlam. She was booked in two championship matches and had a chance to become a double champion. Something that few people are able to accomplish.
She first faced Bayley as the first match of the night. Asuka did what she could to win the SmackDown Women’s Title, however, Bayley with the help of Sasha Banks continues her dominance and retained the title.
Now we are later in the night and it is time for Banks to defend her RAW Women’s Title against the woman she defeated for it. During the match, Bayley had the same opportunity that Banks had earlier to help her retain. Bayley would however move out of the way from a hip attack and moments later Banks would find herself tapping out to the Asuka Lock after a failed Bank Statement attempt.
In the aftermath, we saw Bayley trying to talk to her best friend and tag team partner. Banks wasn’t having it as she was reasonably irate.
Asuka is now a two-time RAW Women’s Champion.
